Good Intentions & Good Examples….

It’s probably influenced by the fact that I’ve been sick for over a week, which is also the reason this post is so late, but I’ve been feeling like I haven’t been doing enough for others lately. As I was thinking about this during the week I began to console myself by considering all of the good intentions that I have. I truly do care for other people and have a great desire to serve. I try to keep my eyes and heart open to see the needs of others that I come in contact with and I do my best to meet those needs. It just seems like “life” is always getting in the way. It seems like I never have enough time or energy to do all that I feel I should.

Shakespeare wrote in The Merchant of Venice, “If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do, chapels had been churches, and poor men’s cottages princes’ palaces”. So think what this world could be if we all tried harder to carry out the good that we know we should do. It’s not like I don’t ever carry out my good intentions, I often do, but as I said before it seems like life gets in the way much too often. As I was thinking about this, I thought of a couple of friends of mine and the great examples they are to me. Instead of letting “life” get in the way of serving others, service is their lives. It seems that every time I talk to them they are busy helping someone in need and serving others. They inspire and motivate me to do more, to try harder. So I will try harder this week to follow their examples and do more to carry out my good intentions. I will try to remember the last line of one of my favorite novels “Love is a verb”.*

Sincerely,

Sandra
