Safely Through The Storm

This week I had the absolutely terrifying experience of attempting to outrun a tornado. I would love to say that this was the first time, but I have lived in Oklahoma for over 30 years. I am more acquainted with tornadoes than I care to be.

Monday afternoon, I left work early in hopes of making it home before the severe weather arrived. Unfortunately, the storms moved more quickly than I anticipated. My journey had barely begun when I received news that a huge tornado was headed towards my home and the path of my usual route to get there.

I adjusted my route in hopes of avoiding the tornado but the storm I was driving through was still fierce. As I cautiously made my way through violent winds, blinding rain and pounding hail I prayed. I asked my Heavenly Father to protect my loved ones and to guide me safely home. I pleaded with Him to help me to hear the still small voice of the spirit above the roar of the raging storm.

As I pushed ahead I felt the direction of my Heavenly Father. As other drivers pulled over or exited the highway to pursue other paths, I thought briefly about following their example, but I felt directed to keep moving forward, to keep moving ahead. As I saw fair skies ahead far off in the distance, I felt prompted to move towards them as quickly as I could.

Minutes after I passed, the tornado hit the road that I had been traveling.

As I reflected upon my travel home through the storm, I thought how our life is very much like my journey. Our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to return safely to Him. If we seek for and listen to His guidance and direction, He will lead us through the storms of this life. He will guide us safely home.

Just beautiful! The promptings from our Heavenly Father are the safest and surest guide on our path to return to him. I’m so grateful that you listened and obeyed, life would be so much duller without sincerelysandra in it.

So grateful for my lovely wife’s safe journey home. Heavenly Father’s tender mercies touch our lives everyday sometimes in much more subtle and quiet ways and sometimes in very powerful and direct ways, but his hand is there to guide in faith and compassion. But it is up to us to look and see his hand, to listen and hear his voice, to open our hearts and feel his love full of grace for each of us. God bless all those that were touched by the storm and all those that are helping in the recovery, for surely He has not abandoned us and never will. May we pray always in supplication and reverence, That we may be filled with his great love one for another, and may this love take form in action and service to one another!

I didn’t know how close the tornado was to you until now. All I know is when I heard tornado and Oklahoma in the same sentence, I immediately started praying for yours and your family’s safety. I am so thankful and so very happy you and your family are alright!! Prayer is a wonderful thing!! Love you sweetie! <3 I Don't know what I'd do without my sweet angel!

I agree with Cindy; life without you would be totally beige. I also agree with Nick when he reminds us that He will never leave nor forsake us.

Thank you for sharing your life and reminding us that God is in our lives at all times!
