For the last week I have been on a cross-country road trip. I love traveling. I love to see and learn about things I have never seen before. I enjoy stopping by as many local tourist attractions as possible.
This past week I have witnessed the majesty of Mount Rushmore and the grandeur of Devil’s Tower. I have seen wildlife and wild west towns. I have stood on the exact geographical center of the continental United States and have gazed in awe at the world’s largest ball of twine.
As amazing as these attractions are, they are not always easy to find. They are often “off the beaten path”. There are usually billboards or signs leading the way to these hidden treasures. However, even with these signs, they can often be difficult to find.
I remember on one occasion, I was trying to find a historical site that I had wanted to see for some time. This particular site was literally in the middle of nowhere. My only directions came in the form of small blue signs placed periodically throughout my route. These signs told me when and where I would need to turn to reach my destination.
As I drove, I watched very carefully for these signs. Sometimes, it seemed like I drove for miles and miles without seeing a sign. Many times I was certain that I was lost. I was sure that I had missed a sign or taken a wrong turn. Each time that I was about to give up, I would see a familiar blue sign and know that I was still moving in the right direction. I was still on the right path and would eventually make it to my destination.
As I arrived safely and was enjoying my destination, I reflected on my journey. I thought how sometimes I feel “lost” in my journey through this life too. Sometimes, I wonder if I am on the right path, if I am moving in the right direction.
Just as the blue signs led me on my trip, I know, that my Heavenly Father will lead me to my ultimate destination. When I am feeling lost, if I seek for and follow His guidance, He will tell me when and where to turn. He will help me stay on the right path and guide me safely back to His presence.
